Pre-Grouping Country Stations
Over the past few weeks there have been some images of stations added to the ROMA. Amongst these are some images of pre-grouping country stations which give a snapshot (literally) of railway and social history of the period. For the railways there is the equipment and signage being used plus the staff uniforms whilst socially there are images of the mix of customers, their outfits and the advertising signage businesses thought pertinent to the railway traveller. Examples of these images include: (GWR) Acocks Green and Aynho; (GCR) Aylesbury; (LBSCR) Ardingley; (LCDR) Birchington on Sea; (SER) Blackwater; (LSWR) Basingstoke, Bishops Waltham and Eastleigh; (Midland) Belper and (Joint Lines) Beaconsfield. (In brackets is the name of the album that contains the image). Whilst in the ROMA don't forget to check out the "What is it? Where is it? When was it?" page which contains a number of images that we need help identifying before they can be added to the appropriate part of the ROMA.
