As reported in the July - August 2022 RCHS Bulletin, our former member, Ken Goddard, of Derby died on the 23rd May 2022. He was an active railway photographer, and some years ago donated around 1,000 of his black and white images of the railway scene, mainly 1950s to early 1970s, to the Society. These include photos of the remains of railway stations taken some years after closure. The images are currently being scanned and, in due course, will be published in the Online Archive.

To mis-quote Oscar Wilde, “To lose one bridge may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose both looks like carelessness”. But this happened to bridge 82, near Glaisdale. Dick Pemble was a loco driver based at Andover Junction. He was born on 12 July 1899 in Sheerness, Kent and died in 1976. He worked over the Midland & South Western Junction line between Andover Junction & Andoversford, and on to Cheltenham St James, and took many photographs of the line during its final years, often from the cab of one of his locos.
After his death, Stephen Duffell was permitted to make copies of these photographs, which are now presented in route order starting (...)

Upgrades for the Online Archive software (Zenphoto), and its customised plugins and themes, are released from time to time. After we have carried out our own testing, we will install the new versions on the first Sunday of each month. Accordingly, the Online Archive may be down on these days between 0700 and 1100, and instead a message will appear "ZENPHOTO Gallery is undergoing an upgrade. Please return later." We will try to give a week's notice when an upgrade is planned.
