The latest set of Bertram Baxter images are from Worcestershire and Shropshire, and include some taken in 1956 at the Horsehay Ironworks (1755 – 1984) in Shropshire. Ray Cook was one of the Society's founders, probably the youngest at the time of its founding in 1954. He authored a number of books that were published by the Society, some jointly with such eminent transport historians as Clinker, Rattenbury, and Hoole. A tour of the early railway, in 60 photographs from the Bertram Baxter Collection and mainly taken in the 1930s, is now available. Some of the scenery is unrecognisable today, either because nature has taken over, or "improvements" have swept away the remains.

A number of new Collections of Baxter photographs showing the remains of tramroads in South Wales have been added to the Online Archive over the past few weeks, including in the Sirhowy, Llynvi and Dulais valleys, the Vale of Neath.

A new album in the Online Archive features Bertram Baxter's virtual walk along this early railway, from the derelict Pinxton Wharf in 1947, to the Mansfield terminus.

Recently added is a set of photos of structures along the line, taken immediately prior to its opening in 1884. The rural nature of much of the line at this time is very evident.

Bertram Baxter did a photographic survey of the tramway in 1928, shortly after it closed, and whilst many of the assets were still in situ. He enhanced this in later years, his final visit being in 1964, two years before he died. The images are now available in the Peak Forest Tramway album on the Online Archive.
