Fairbottom Branch. Bardsley Colliery Dock. August 1959
Grid Ref: SD 9276 0133 [ANf-001-870]. The dock extended about 100m from where the stonework is, past the bush and was connected to the colliery by a 400m tramway. The stonework has been built across the entrance to the dock, probably soon after the colliery closed in 1885 and the narrows created was likely to allow stop planks to be inserted in the event of a breach in Valley Aqueduct, similar to the one to the west of the aqueduct.
