The engine, with nine empty mineral wagons and three water tanks for Middleton, was diverted into the station siding in error and ran through the block stop. Driver John Harrison and Fireman Wm Dove baled out and were unhurt but the two elderly sisters who occupied Station House had to be treated for shock. The boarding is to help with the recovery of the locomotive.
