Pictured in the 1920s. Although a "modern" steel-framed depot with electric cranes most goods are still being man-handled across the dock to horse-drawn drays as they had been for the best part of the previous 100 years.

The Caterham Railway opened between Purley and Caterham in 1856. In 1859 it was taken over by the SER. This notice dates from October 1856 and gives the rates for shipping different classes of goods from London (Bricklayers Arms) to destinations on the Caterham Railway and details the goods in each of the five classes.

Class 3001 2-2-2 No. 3003 1892 (Ref: 010622)

Built by Dean in 1892 at Swindon Works. Designed for working the West of England expresses from London to Bristol and Newton Abbot and to Birmingham. The first corridor train with lavatory accommodation for all three classes made its appearance on this 1.30 pm from Paddington to Birmingham on 1st Oct 1892. The loco was rebuilt as a 4-2-2 in 1894.

Coventry Station - Water Column (RBS1 @ 93m 79ch) (Ref: 031499)

Located at the end of the Down platform this column dates back to the London & Birmingham Railway. It was cast by Bury, Curtis & Kennedy of Liverpool possibly as early as 1838. In the background can be seen Coventry No. 2 signal box.

River Danube. Budapest, Hungary. Erzsébet Bridge. Km 1646. 06 August 2023

It is situated at the narrowest part of the Danube in the Budapest area, spanning only 290 m, and was constructed between 1961 and 1964. It is named after Elisabeth of Bavaria, a popular queen and empress of Austria-Hungary, who was assassinated in 1898. It replaced the original eclectic flamboyant style bridge built between 1897 and 1903, and destroyed during World War II.

Designed by English engineer William Tierney Clark and built by Scottish engineer Adam Clark (no relation), it was the first permanent bridge across the Danube in Hungary. It was opened in 1849. In World War II, the bridge was blown up on 18 January 1945 by the retreating Germans during the Siege of Budapest, with only the towers remaining. It was rebuilt, and reopened in 1949.

The double lock both have a usable length of 227 m and a usable width of 24 m. Construction of the north lock began first in 1954 and then the south lock in 1955.
