Harland & Wolff built Kenya Castle in Belfast, 1952 for the Union-Castle Line. One-class accommodation for about 530 passengers, and considerable refrigerated and general cargo capacity. Sold 1967 to Chandris and converted to cruise liner Amerikanis. Laid up 1996, broken up 2001.

HS Koningin Regentes in World War1 Camouflage Paint at Folkestone Harbour

The ship was built as the paddle steamer PSS Koningin Regentes at the Fairfield Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. Ltd. shipyard in Govan, Scotland, in 1895. and worked as a ferry boat between the Netherlands and the United Kingdom until the outbreak of WW1, when she was refitted with special accommodations and repainted for service as a hospital ship. Her name was therefore also changed to HS Koningin Regentes. The Koningin Regentes now served on a new route between Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and Boston, Lincolnshire, England, and operated on this route for nearly the entire war. She was torpedoed by the Imperial German Navy submarine SM UB-107 on 6 June 1918 and sank shortly afterwards. Seven people lost their lives in the sinking

HMS Queen of Thanet in Camouflage Paint at Folkestone Harbour

The ship was built by William Hamilton & Co., Port Glasgow as the Ascot Class minesweeper HMS Melton in 1916. She was purchased by the New Medway Steam Packet Company in 1927 for conversion to a passenger ship on a cross Channel route to Calais, but was was laid up in 1938. She served at Dunkirk, and rescued 4,000 men during WWII. She resumed civilian sailings in 1946, and was scrapped in 1951.

Boat with orange hull is C S Alert , a cable and pipe layer, IMO5009855. The boat with the white hull is the MV Arawa, Shaw Saville Line. Built 1960 for Royal Mail Line named Arlanza, transferred 1969 to Shaw Saville and Albion and named Arawa. CS Alert, 6413gross tons. Built 1961 by Fairfeld ship builders and Engineers Glasgow. Scrapped Alang Gujarat 1995. Arawa was sold 1971 to Norway for conversion to a car carrier, the Hoegh Transit. Scrapped 1981.

Sold to Norwegian Caribbean line in 1979, refitted for as a cruise ship, renamed Norway 1980. Sold again iand rrenamed "Blue Lady" it was Inally demolished at Alang India in 2008.

The SS Malaysia was built by Cammell Laird, launched August 1954 , sea trials Jnauary 1955. Built for Booth Line and named Hubert. In 1964 placed on charter with Austasia Line and renamed SSMalaysia. In 1966 it had a regular run from Freemantle to Singapore/ Malaya. Sold in 1976 to Atlas Shipping Agebcy and converted to a sheep livestick carrier named United cjallenger an then Khalij Express..Sold 1976 to Arabian Maritime Transport Co and withdrawn 1983. Broken uo at Alang (India Gujarat)1985.

Loading the Commer bus onto the S S Manaysia in Freemantle harbour. 24 March 1974 The Commer was a former school bus and one of two vehicles that formed the transport for Overland Safaries, who ran a trip from Sydney to Freemantle, to Singapore and Malaysia, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran Turkey, Greece and to the UK. The vehicle made it as far as Masshhad in western Afghanistan where it suffered serious engine failure. Most passengers made their own way to London, the Commer finally making it months later.

The ship Chidambaram being loaded in Penang harbour13 April 1974. TheChidambaram was thr last ship built by Chantiers de France Gironde, Dunkirk, France for Messageries Maritimes of Marseilles, France, in 1966. Named the Pasteur she sailed between Europe ans South America. In 1972 she was sold to the Shipping Corporation of India and remaned Chidambaram in honour of Tamil Nadu shipping pioneer V O Chidambaram Pillal. The ship operated the Madras to Singapore/Ma;laya roue (Straits Service). In 1985 she caught fire and 34 people died. She was scrapped in Bombay later in the year.IMO 6614683. In Indian service there were cabins for about 40 first class passengers and space below decks in dormaatories for 1100 bunk passengers. No Mixing of 1st class and Bunk was allowed.
