The masonry viaduct over the River Gelt in Cumbria has three arches of 9m span.. It was built from 1832-1835 for the Newcastle and Carlisle Railway, and was one of the earliest and largest skew arched bridges in the country. The bridge is Grade II* listed on the National Heritage List for England. The engraving is from “Views on the Newcastle and Carlisle Railway” by John Wilson Carmichael (engravings) and John Blackmore (descriptions), (1839)
