A1 Class 0-6-0T No. 53 "Ashtead"
Pictured at Sutton Junction Signal Box (ELR: BTH1 @ 14m 71ch) in March 1886. The loco has been fitted with brushes for sweeping snow from the rails. Built at Brighton 1875 by Stroudley and renumbered 653 in 1900. Sold to Weston, Clevedon.& Portishead Light Rly in 1937 later taken over by GWR as No.6 in 1940.
