The water-filled ditch is marked as being the line of the canal. However, the only part of the canal with this orientation to the grandstand on the race course is just east of the lock, Grid Ref: SX 87353 72187, and the waterway there is wider than the ditch shown. There is a ditch that crosses the race course but it follows the line of the canal, which was on a slight embankment, just to its south.
